The bodies of three deceased men were found inside a collapsed apartment building in Davenport, Iowa, police said Monday, one week after the apartment building partially caved in—and authorities initially did not report any fatalities.

The bodies of Ryan Hitchcock, 51, and Daniel Prien, 60, two residents who had been missing since the collapse occurred on May 28, have been found, police said Monday.
Branden Colvin, 42, was also found dead, officials told his family Saturday.
The three are the first confirmed deaths from the incident, after eight people were rescued and one was hospitalized with injuries after the initial collapse.
Davenport Police Chief Jeffery Bladel said Monday police don’t believe anyone else is missing.

On the evening of May 28, part of the apartment building separated and caved in. Officials have still not released a cause of the collapse. The disaster displaced scores of people from the 80-unit complex, which is located in Davenport, a city of about 100,000 across the Mississippi River from Illinois.

The resident who was injured during the collapse has filed a lawsuit alleging the city of Davenport, the property owner—a man named Andrew Wold, according to public records—and others failed to warn the tenants about problems with the building, the Associated Press reported Monday. Residents of the property have told media outlets they experienced frequent issues with utilities in the building, and there was damage to the property that posed risks to the tenants. City officials and Wold were also aware parts of the building were unstable, the Associated Press reported, but did not evacuate the building. Officials said Thursday they did not evacuate the building because of an engineer’s assurance the apartment was safe. In a released statement dated May 30, Wold said “our thoughts and prayers are with our tenants,” but has not made a public statement since.
