ENS și un individ dau în judecată pentru a opri vânzarea domeniului eth.link

  • True Names, Ltd d/b/a ENS, and Virgil Griffith filed a document to stop the sale of an eth.link domain.
  • It included the domain, eth.link, sold in a Dynadot expired domain auction for $852,000.

The Claims by TNL and An Individual

True Names Limited (TNL) is a Singapore-based non-profit organization, which works for the core software development of Serviciul de nume Ethereum (ENS.)

The following case arises from GoDaddy’s breach of its agreement to respect, acknowledge, and protect the eth.link domain name. This domain facilitates huge cryptocurrency transactions by its users and is registered with GoDaddy till July 26, 2023.

But, on September 5, 2022, GoDaddy deliberately announced to the domain owners that their domain’s registration with GoDaddy had expired. Also, any further action by the current registrant would revert the domain to the registry, that be available to others.

Virgil Griffith, an individual registered the domain name to use it as a resolving service for .eth domain names, as it is based on the blockchain and prime web browsers which don’t resolve them. Hence, Griffith was making its solution to building a third-party domain under eth.link ahead to the corresponding website.

Along with the most domain registrations, it also went into an expired domain auction.

Additionally, with some issues between GoDaddy and Uni (the registry that previously controlled .link), GoDaddy did not proceed with the auction of the domain on its own service.

While the domain was already auctioned at Dynadot because of a pre-existing deal with Uni. At where it was sold at $852,000 and got changed.

As of now, Griffith and the ENS demand to stop the sale and transactions of the domain. It mutually sued GoDaddy, Dynadot, and Manifold Finance.
