Bursele criptografice din Ontario impun o limită anuală de 30 USD CAD pentru achizițiile de altcoin

Bursele de criptomonede din Canada Bitbuy și Newton impun o „limită de cumpărare” anuală de 30,000 de dolari canadieni pentru „monede restricționate” pentru utilizatorii lor din Ontario, pentru a „proteja consumatorii” pe fondul reglementărilor înăsprite.

Newton, a Toronto-based crypto exchange a anunțat the new changes come after working on getting registered with the Ontario Securities Commission and the securities regulatory authorities in other provinces and territories of Canada, noting in a Tuesday post:

Conform noilor modificări, comercianții de criptomonede din Ontario de pe Newton și alte platforme cripto canadiene vor fi supuși unei „limite de cumpărare netă” anuală de 30,000 CAD pentru toate monedele criptomonede, cu excepția Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Eter (ETH) și Litecoin (LTC).

Newton a mai clarificat că, dacă un comerciant a cumpărat și apoi a vândut o monedă restricționată, suma vândută ar fi scăzută din limită. Limita se resetează la fiecare 12 luni de la prima achiziție de monede restricționate.

Limitele de cumpărare apar în momentul în care platforma cripto a anunțat miercuri că s-a înregistrat oficial ca „dealer restricționat” în provincia Ontario, ceea ce înseamnă că acum sunt supuse reglementărilor stabilite de Comisia pentru Valori Mobiliare din Ontario (OSC).

Other changes aimed at consumer protection include a “trading questionnaire,” in which the exchange is required to collect information from users about their past experience and knowledge of crypto investing, financial situation, and risk tolerance — which is required to be completed to continue funding the account and trading on the platform.

The crypto exchange will also send traders a notification if the trader’s portfolio receives a loss level that they indicated in the questionnaire that they’re not comfortable with.

Canadian crypto exchange Bitbuy also confirmat similar purchase limits earlier in the year, noting that similar restrictions also apply to users in the provinces of Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon.

Similar to Newton, Bitbuy requires traders to fill out a questionnaire to determine whether the investor qualifies as a Retail Investor, Eligible Investor or Sophisticated Investor. However, while Retail Investors remain subject to the 30,000 CAD buy limit, Eligible Investors’ buy limit is upped to 100,000 CAD and no purchase limit exists for Accredited Investors.

Newton provided traders with a snapshot of what they should expect to see when the new rules take effect.

Newton noted that each province and territory of Canada has its own securities regulatory authority, which combined, makes up the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA).

Consumer protection isn’t the only focus of Canadian regulators either. In April 2021, the Canadian federal government announced that it would undergo a legislative review on the financial sector, with a particular focus on improving the stability and security of digital currencies and establishing a moneda digitala a bancii centrale (CBDC).

Newton, which dubs itself as “Canada’s trust low cost crypto trading platform,” was founded in 2018 and is currently one of the most popular exchanges in Canada, having depășit 100,000 users in Feb. 2021.
